iPrep Key Club Executive Board with Mr. Gantt
The iPrep Academy is Miami-Dade County Public Schools' newest senior high school. It is located right next to the Primary Learning Center (PLC) in my mom's office building. Last year Katrina Rios and I gave a presentation at iPrep on Project PAWS-Miami. Well, let me tell you what is planned for this school year.
Several of my iPrep friends asked me to participate in their Key Club. I learned that the Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for senior high school students. Key Club International is sponsored by Kiwanis International.
Children: Their Future, Our Focus - The Key Club's mission is to serve the children of the world. High school student members of Key Club perform acts of service in their communities like picking up litter in parks, collecting clothing and food for needy families, and working with sick children.
I wonder why they call it the Key Club? Maybe it is called the Key Club because, through community service activities, the students open doors (with imaginary keys) and form relationships with the world around them.
Mr. Gantt, one of the teachers in the iPrep, is the Key Club teacher sponsor. He made me an honorary member of the iPrep Key Club. We are going to participate in some community service activities together.
We have two Miami events scheduled so far:
February 18 - The Humane Society Walk for the Animals
March 25 - The Miami Lighthouse Dog Walk
