February 2012

My First School Photograph
Saturday, February 4 - I went to my grandma's for breakfast today. I ate little bits of scrambled eggs and sausage. Afterwards my parents drove me around the town while they did their errands. Did I ever tell you I love riding in the car? When we finished the errands I stayed in the car and fell asleep. I did this on purpose. I didn't want to get out of the car so I pretended I was asleep. I am a funny girl!
Wednesday, February 1 - Happy New Month! Our character education lesson this month is on responsibility. I hope your teacher shows you my lesson on responsibility. There is even a little quiz to take at the end of the lesson.
I am going to school tomorrow to read my new book to Ms. Lopez' first grade students. My new book is called - How Does a Dog Learn in School?

January 2012
Sunday, January 29 - I enjoyed a beautiful Sunday in Miami today. We watched the ING Miami Marathon runners run right past our street corner. The first runners were in wheelchairs and then the others came flying by us. We stood there for a long time and cheered. We rang bells, clapped, and shouted out the runners' names telling them to keep running and letting them know they were over halfway through the route already. One runner stopped and gave me a little pat on the head then ran along with the others. That was a special moment for me. I can't believe she took the time away from running to come over and visit with me.
I am going back to school tomorrow. This is unusual for me on my weekly Moody Monday but I have a photo shoot with the iPrep Key Club executive board members. That means I won't be moody on Monday when the new work week begins tomorrow morning.
There are lots of photos, from the Miami Marathon and the iPrep Key Club, coming soon. Stay tuned . . .
Wednesday, January 25 - Let's talk service projects!
This afternoon my mom and David had a meeting with my iPrep classmate and president of the iPrep Key Club, Raveena. They began planning for our two upcoming community service events:
The Humane Society of Greater Miami Walk for the Animals and The Miami Lighthouse for the Blind "Walk, Waggle, and Stroll."
We hope you get to come out and join us at both events. They are dog walks for very good causes. See my webpages for more information.
Tuesday, January 24 - I am going to start working with my new Miami-Dade County Public Schools' Project Victory friends.
Coming soon - the Project Victory webpage!
Stay tuned . . .
Sunday, January 22 - I had a nice soothing oatmeal bath today. See the photos on my Sequoia Gets a Bath webpage. I look a little funny all wrapped up in my towel.
Tomorrow is Moody Monday. I hope my dad stays home with me tomorrow so I won't be so moody. I am VERY glad my dad is retired!
Saturday, January 21 - My grandma scared me today. She was wearing her sleeping cap when we went over for breakfast. That is because we woke her up - guess we got to her house a little too early. It is a beautiful day in Miami!
The weather in Miami is really beautiful. The air is a little cool (just a little) and the sky is blue. I had a nice walk around our Miami neighborhood and went to the corner market to buy chocolate tomatoes. (That sounds funny, doesn't it?) We are going to have them for lunch.
Tonight we are going to walk to a new restaurant called Mare Nostrum. They don't have a website yet. I hope we like it there. It's naptime now...
Thursday, January 19 - I was so happy this morning because my mom said, "Are you ready girl? It's time to go to school!" Every Thursday and Friday I get to go to school but sometimes, like today, my mom gets too busy and I never get to leave my office classroom.
Yes, my mom had a lot of appointments today. It was good because she recruited some great teachers for our schools .I still had fun no matter what. I got to meet some nice teachers and see my office friends. I even chewed on my Nylabone a little bit.
Tomorrow is Finally Friday and I just know we will find a teeny bit of time for me to go to see my kindergarten classmates. We are going to do Reading Appreciation.
Monday, January 16 - I missed my classmates last Friday because the whole school went to the circus. Dogs are not allowed to go to the circus so I stayed back in my office classroom with my mom and office friends.
Today was a holiday so my mom didn't go to work. We had a nice long walk in Miami. The weather is so beautiful here this time of year.
Tomorrow my mom goes back to work but my dad is going to stay home with me. I am so glad my dad is retired now. He volunteers at schools a couple of times a week but on the first work day of the week he always stays home with me because I get real moody when my mom goes back to work after a fun weekend. I sometimes even bark after my mom gets dressed and walks down the stairs. I guess I think she will listen to my barking and take me to school. Well I should know better by now. There is no chance of that until the end of the week.
Thursday, January 12 - I went to school today and enjoyed a fun time playing with my pre-kindergarten classmates in the playground. They pretended I was invisible and we played safely. My friends tried not to scream because it scares me. They are getting better at quiet playground play each time I join them.
My friend Renny came to see me today. She sent an email to my mom telling her she had a meeting downtown today. She asked if I was going to be in my office classroom and, if so, she was going to stop by to say hello. I love Renny!
My mom went to a meeting today and Uncle Zach had to babysit. I stayed with him in his office for a whole hour. I was so happy to be with Uncle Zach that I got up and gave him that, "Let's play" look. He even let me bark a little bit in the office (something my mom never lets me do). When my mom came back from the meeting I barked a little to greet her. That is when she realized I got a little crazy playing with Uncle Zach. I couldn't help it. He is such a fun guy!
Tomorrow I am going back to school for reading appreciation in the kindegarten classes.
Friday, January 6 - It's Finally Friday! What an interesting day I am having today. I came to my mom's office early in the morning to get ready for school. Then, while it was nice and quiet and I was resting in my magic hole, there was a fire drill. The screeching alarm scared me. We walked outside (quietly, of course) and stood in the parking lot for the fire drill. Then, about 20 minutes later and just before I got ready to the PLC pre-kindergarten classes, there was another fire drill. We were so surprised! Again we had to go outside and stand in the parking lot. This time I visited with my iPrep classmates during the fire drill and one of my friends gave me fives cereal pieces. He would have given me his whole bowl but my mom said no. Tonight my friends, Pablo and Irene, are going to come over to visit. I haven't seen them for awhile.
Tomorrow will be even more fun because I am going to visit my grandma. I love my grandma!
Sunday, January 1 - Happy New Year to all my friends. I love you!
We woke up very early this morning and headed down our mountain for the ride to Miami. My mom has to go to work next week and I need to go back to school.
We had a nice two week winter vacation at our mountain house but we had less than one inch of snow. I really love snow and was hoping we would have seen LOTS more of it. Oh well, there is always next year . . .
My new character education lesson for January is Honesty and Fairness.

In front of our house - waiting to go for a car ride
Monday, December 26 - It is a cold morning in the mountains today. When I first woke up it was 29 degrees outside with clear blue skies. My dad waited until it warmed up a bit (now 30 degrees) and then he started to work - clearing vines off the trees behind our house. I am staying inside by the fireplace for a little bit. Then, after my mom gives me a nice brushing, we are going to drive into Asheville to visit a few stores. I hope we go to Malaprop's Bookstore. I love it there!
Merry Christmas Everyone!

My First School Picture - at the PLC
Sunday, December 25 - Merry Christmas. I saw Santa Claus on Main Street yesterday. He still scares me a little bit.
Saturday, December 24 - Santa Claus is coming to town tomorrow!
It is cold outside this morning - 35 degrees. We are still in a light fog but the sunshine is going to come around the mountaintop and surprise us soon. I hope we can go on an afternoon hike. I have a Twitter account now. Do you anything aboutTtwitter? I really don't but just in case you are interested, I am on Twitter like this ----- @sequoiadog
Thursday, December 22 - Today is the start of winter. We have no snow in the mountains right now because it is too warm. Our temperatures have been in the low 50 degrees. I know it is nice outside at that temperature but I am now starting to dream of snow a little too much. I miss it!
Today is also the first day it is not drizzling. We have had a light rain for a couple of days so we didn't get a chance to go on any mountain hikes. If I am lucky this morning, we are going to ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway and visit some of my favorite spots.
Monday, December 19 - I am in North Carolina today! Today is the first day of my winter vacation. I am so happy. Even if I have a serious look on my face, like I usually do, I am smiling inside. Promise.
Thursday, December 15 - This morning Little B gave my mom the envelope containing my first ever school pictures. Mr. Munoz, from Enriquez Munoz Photo Studio, delivered the Primary Learning Center school photos the other day and my envelope was part of the big pile of the school pictures of each one of my classmates and teachers.
I just love my school picture! (see photo to the left) Don't I look a little serious? That is because I am a reflective thinker. Do you know what that means?
I am going to school tomorrow. It is the last school day before the winter recess. My happiness bubbles are stirring up from deep inside of me because I am beginning to hear my mountains calling me. Next week we drive to North Carolina. Yippee! I hope I see snow again this winter.
Wednesday, December 7 - I went to my doctor today because the inside of my ears are red and itchy. Dr. Richter told my mom and dad I may be itchy because of allergies. Now I have to take lots of pills and my mom has to clean my ears twice a week with a special medicine we are getting at Walgreens. When I go to school this Friday I don't think my classmates can share their secrets with me because my ears will be tender and all wet from my ear medicine. I am a brave little girl so I will listen to Dr. Richter and be good when my mom gives me my pills and ear medicine. My friends will be extra gentle with me - I know that for sure. They won't mind skipping telling secrets this week.
Sunday, December 4 - Happy new month! I love December because the weather in Miami starts to feel a little cooler and the chance for snow in North Carolina gets real big. I love snow!
I go to back home to the mountains of North Carolina in two weeks and I can't wait.
